The answer is no. No one needs an iPad but technically no one needs an iPhone either and look how well that went over. A need has a very specific definition:

a lack of something wanted or deemed necessary: to fulfill a desire or want.

Hmmm. That seems to have back fired. Maybe I do need an iPad afterall. Gizmodo has gotten all of the what’s how’s and how muches of the iPad locked down but to sum it up here’s what the iPad can do:

1. Size – Imagine if you shrank in size about 10% and then held your iPhone (that or if your iphone got bigger i guess). The iPad is about 10inches big and .5 inches thick – weighing in at about 1.5lbs.
2. Navigating - The iPad has all of the touch functionality of the iPhone. It also uses the same “app” like functionality of the phone and does not have windows like an iMac or MacBook.
3. Battery Life – This is a strong feature of the iPad because it is supposed to last 10hrs even when watching movies.

What can I do with it?

This new product actually does everything your phone can do – minus taking pictures – and makes it easier because of it’s enhanced screen size. It even has a new accompanying store called iBook that puts amazons kindle service to shame. You can purchase the iPad with just wi-fi access (much like an iPod touch) or you can buy an iPad with wi-fi plus 3G. This will of course be running on AT&T’s already shakey network which isn’t much of a perk if you ask me.

This device looks awesome. It has a lot of potential for cool uses and the oooooo …. ahhhhhh factor is huge. Besides that I’d say you can make due with your iPhone unless you have an extra $700-ish bucks burning a hole in your pocket. But if that’s the case I guess you could always donate it to Hati.

How this Betters Your Life: “Girls: Mix and Match outfits without having to try them on (and save your favorites) Guys: It doesn’t but get your girl to pick out some nice outfits and maybe you can turn a few heads”

What you need: “An iPhone, Clothes, and at least a little fashion sense”

I’m sure everyone has seen the commercials from Gap outlining their new StyleMixer App that lets you mix and match various outfits that you own (or want to own). At first glace I thought it wasn’t much but with a little inspiration from Clarabelle I decided to dig a little deeper.

What this App can Do?

1. Style for him or her – In case your not so sure … or if your a single iPhone household but want to help stylize everyone in the family.
2. Add your own Clothes- I know everyone doesn’t shop exclusively at the GAP so this is a very helpful feature. You simply tap the + button to add an item and take a picture of it. I suggest doing the clothes you wear the most first then move on to the lesser worn items (or if your feeling super productive/bored you can do it all in one day).
3. Mix and Match Outfits – This is the money maker for this app. This feature allows you to see all of your clothes that you have in your closet by simply scrolling through the pictures of them (very nice). You can also take pictures of yourself in the clothes to remember how they look on you.
4. See What others are wearing – Need a little inspiration for the outfit your wearing tonight? You can check out what others are wearing with the community feature.
5. Find A Gap – Of course the GAP App has to make it as easy as possible for you to find one of their stores so they include a Gap Finder Option also.

Ideas:

1. Use this app while your shopping to see if that item you “desperately need” matches what you already own.
2. Do your shoes match that dress you want to buy? This app’s for that.
3. See how that new purse fits into your wardrobe.
4. I’m sure girls can think of countless other ways to use this app (put some in the comments)

Overall, this apps almost as cool as making your own free ringtones in itunes. If you have a little extra time on your hands and are all about fashion this can be a very useful App. It only gets 2 stars from the App store rating but I think that’s very low for this Apps capabilities.
